The 475 page “BREW” study; “Medium and Long-Term Opportunities and Risks of the Biotechnological Production of Bulk Chemicals from Renewable Resources” can be downloaded from the project’s website.
The study was co-ordinated by Utrecht University, Department of Science, Technology and Society / Copernicus Institute and funded by the European Commission. A consortium of 15 partners were involved, comprising 9 companies and 6 institutes.
Topics covered include; an overview of chemicals with potential for production using white biotechnology, environmental and economic assessments and projections for the year 2050.
