nova experts (re)introduced: Linda Engel

Linda is celebrating ten years at nova and one year as proud part-time owner of the company.

She joint nova as management assistant, supporting CEO Michael Carus in his work by coordinating the daily workflows and business organisation. From the very beginning, she acted as an editor and later editor in chief for Bio-based News and was jointly responsible for press relations and corporate communications. She organised workshops and lead European research projects.

As nova grew and expanded its activities over the years, Linda supported the necessary restructuring processes. In the same course, she initially took over the management of IT in 2018 and from 2019 to 2023, she acted as head of the communications department.

Since September 2020, Linda has shared the management of the company with CEO Michael Carus as Managing Director and Chief Operation Officer and took responsibility for ensuring optimal processes within the company, quality management and strategic development.

Background and expertise

Linda is a sociologist by trade. Born and raised in Rhineland-Palatinate, Linda moved to Cologne to study after graduating from high school. There she completed her Master degree in Sociology with minors in German Philology and Scandinavian Studies. Within the broad field of sociology, she focused on network analysis, organisational sociology, but also dabbled in environmental sociology, which lead her to her current carrier.
