Nordzucker unveils new website focused on sustainability

Viewing the value chain as field of development

Nordzucker presents its new sustainability website at www.nordzucker-growing-together.com today. It will replace the printed sustainability reports. As of today, the latest facts and figures are available at any time. In addition, the site contains a wealth of background information about the value chain that leads from the farmer to the consumer as well as detailed explanations of current challenges and targets.
“We have a long tradition of conducting sustainable business along the entire value chain. Our customers rely on the transparency that we have made a part of our day-to-day business as food producers,” board member Axel Aumüller explains its strategic importance.
We aim to keep developing the entire value chain in terms of the defined sustainability objectives together with suppliers, service providers, employees and customers. “That is vital for our success on the market. Since traceability, quality and reliability are the cornerstones of our working relationship with our customers”, says CMO Mats Liljestam. The end of the sugar market regime and the internationalization of our markets are both a challenge and an opportunity for the future. “Our sustainability targets show us the direction we need to go in,” Aumüller continues.
For example, Nordzucker is continuously improving the efficiency and sustainability of beet cultivation together with the beet farmers in Europe. The company is also working hard on its commitment to keep reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Ambitious targets have been set here in the past. These have largely been achieved. Another focus is on supplier audits, which are an important part of quality assurance, especially for sugar imported from countries outside the EU.
The reports that explain and describe our dedication to sustainability can be found on our website. Find more about sustainability at Nordzucker here: www.nordzucker-growing-together.com.
