Mohan Breweries Sets Up Biofuel JV With D1 Oils

Mohan Breweries and Distilleries (MBDL) is floating a JV with British biodiesel firm D1 Oils Plc to produce seedlings of jatropha, a drought resistant tree, the seeds of which are proved to be excellent source of biodiesel, and to produce biodiesel. The JV plans to develop nurseries to produce 30 million seedlings to cover two lakh hectares in the state.

It has also proposed to set up 8,000 tonne daily capacity jatropha seed refinery to produce biodiesel. “Estimated to cost 900,000 pounds, it will be a demonstration plant,” Mark Quinn, CEO, of D1 Oils said. The nursery would cost 1.75 million pounds. D1’s contribution in this 50:50 joint venture would be mostly in the form of machinery and equipment.
