Biojoule a company specialising in producing renewable energy from biomass, has developed a semi-mobile integrated pelleting plant that includes drying, pellet manufacture and storage. (It needs no water or power connection, and is fully automated with control via a web link).
Wood pellets can be used in wood fired heating systems and also for co-firing in power stations. Up to now pellets have been imported from Sweden and Denmark due to there being no wood pelletisation facilities in the UK.
Biojoule’s movable plant may make it economical to pelletise energy crops and allow them to be grown much further away from the power stations.
