Livorno Biodiesel plant doubling capacity

Novaol, the major Italian biodiesel producer now owned by the Bunge group, is to double biodiesel production capacity at its Livorno plant. The new continuous production line, able to manage different types of oils as feedstock, will represent an investment of EUR 7M. The new capacity is due to start up in June 2004 and will bring Novaol’s biodiesel production capacity to 250,000 mt per year. Novaol Group’s CEO, Mr Rocchietta, said the Italian market was ready to reach the 2% biodiesel market share target as defined by the May 2003 European Directive for the Promotion of Biofuels.
