Indonesia licenses new palm oil plantations

The Agriculture Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia has licensed 74 companies to open palm oil plantations covering 672,977 ha in 14 provinces. 24 of these companies have opened palm oil plantations covering 233,382 ha and expected to provide about 0.93 million mt of crude palm oil (CPO) annually. Indonesia has an annual CPO production of 9.8 million mt. With the addition of the 672,977 ha of palm oil plantations, Indonesia is expected to surpass Malaysia in CPO production within 2 or 3 years.
