Hemptown Clothing Inc. Announces New COO

Vetran Executive To Lead Apparel Industry Producer

Vancouver, B.C., Canada – March 31, 2004 – Businesswire/ — Hemptown Clothing Inc. (OTC: BB HPTWF), a leading provider of environmentally responsible clothing, is pleased to announce that Mr. Guy Carpenter has joined the company in the role of Chief Operating Officer. As part of the restructuring, Jason Finnis will assume the role of President of Hemptown Clothing Inc., with Jerry Kroll remaining as CEO.

Mr. Carpenter joined South Carolina Tees, a wholesaler to the embellishment industry as the International Sales Manager after completing an International Business focused MBA program at the University of South Carolina. He was instrumental in the start-up of new distribution centers and in the expansion of established locations into new markets. As Director of International Sales at Outer Banks Knits / Jasper Textiles, he developed international sales and initiated international sourcing projects. Mr. Carpenter successfully partnered a previously unknown high-priced premium product to a core of European wholesalers who worked together to build the brand.

At Danube Knitwear Ltd./Duna Kottataruyar Kft. in Budapest, Hungary, as Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, he was responsible for the development of all textile and apparel products, corporate marketing plans, programs and pricing. Mr. Carpenter formed and directed a multicultural/lingual product management staff to perform merchandising and customer service activities in support of customers (GAP, GAP Kids, Old Navy, Nike, Levi, Russell, Footlocker) and doubled sales (to approx. $50 million) in 24 months.

Mr. Carpenter’s views on social responsibility and environmental issues were shaped from his early experiences growing up in lesser developed countries, and his service in the United States Army, the United States Agency for International Development and the United States Peace Corps.
