Green Dot Terratek® bioplastic to be featured by Material ConneXion at Luxe Pack and the ICFF

Sustainable solution for high quality packaging applications that can protect products and the planet

Material ConneXion will feature Green Dot’s full line of Terratek® biobased and compostable bioplastics at Luxe Pack (May 15-16) and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (May 18-21). Both shows will be held in New York, NY.

Green Dot is partnering with Material ConneXion to place their new Terratek® bioplastics in the hands of designers around the world. Material ConneXion is made up of an international team of multidisciplinary experts that bridge the gap between science and design to create practical manufacturing solutions. Material ConneXion will showcase Green Dot’s full line of Terratek® biobased and compostable bioplastics at the Luxe Pack show to be held on May 15 and 16, 2013 and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) to be held on May 18-21, 2013. Both shows will take place in New York, NY.

Luxe Pack is a luxury goods packaging event, drawing industry professionals from all sectors such as cosmetics, fragrances, fashion and food/gourmet among others. The show will be held at The Altman Building and Metropolitan Building in Manhattan’s Chelsea district. The 2013 show is anticipated to be the largest to date with expanded exhibits and seminars.

Green Dot’s Terratek® compostable films will be featured as a sustainable solution for high quality packaging applications that can protect products and the planet. Terratek® Flex compostable resins have been tested to meet both U.S. (ASTM D6400) and European (EN 13432) standards for compostability in an industrial composting environment. These materials may also be disposed in a backyard composting environment where they will gently biodegrade, returning to nature.

The 25th annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) is North America’s premier showcase for contemporary design. The show will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. The ICFF annually lures those in determined pursuit of design’s timely truths and latest trends to an encyclopedic exhibition of up-to-the-moment offerings of materials and design. The show features the newest frontier of what’s best and what’s next.

Green Dot will showcase the company’s Terratek® Wood Plastic Composites at the show. Terratek® Wood Plastic Composites are made from recycled plastic and wood fiber obtained from waste materials generated by lumber manufacturers. The use of these materials promotes the reclamation of waste that would otherwise be sent to landfills. Instead, these materials are used to create resin pellets that provide the pleasing look of wood with the functionality and manufacturing ease of plastics. Terratek® Wood Plastic Composites are ideal for indoor or outdoor furniture, decorative items, toys, and construction materials such as decking and trim.

Green Dot will also showcase new synthetic leather materials made with Terratek® Flex, the market’s first compostable elastomeric bioplastic. These materials provide designers the opportunity to create sustainable products with uncompromising quality and unique environmental benefits while avoiding harmful chemicals associated with leather tanning and petroleum-based synthetic leathers. Green Dot’s synthetic leather is breathable and strong with an exquisite soft touch. It’s ideal for upholstery, apparel and accessories. When the useful life of these materials has ended they may be composted to return to nature.

Green Dot’s CEO, Mark Remmert and Sales Representative Sarah Harbaugh will attend both shows in New York. “Our participation in these two premier events demonstrates the wide range of sustainable solutions that Green Dot Terratek® bioplastics can provide for both disposable and durable products,” explained Mr. Remmert. “We stand ready to help designers and manufacturers create innovative products and packaging that allow consumers to contribute to a more sustainable world.”

Designers and manufacturers attending the shows are encouraged to contact Green Dot through the website or call the office in order to arrange a meeting time.
