The European Commission has established an Expert Group for Bio-based Products. The main mandates of the Group are (1) to ensure in the current policy framework the implementation of the priority recommendations resulting from the Lead Market Initiative (LMI) and elaborated by the LMI Ad-hoc Advisory Group for Bio-based Products, (2) to ensure that the bioeconomy strategy covers the whole value chain from research to market, from biomass to bio-based products and considers the specific needs and contributions of the bio-based products sector and (3) to contribute to the objectives of the Roadmap for Bio-based Products in the framework of the reviewed industrial policy.
The main tasks of the Group are to monitor, reflect and ensure the implementationof the LMI priority recommendations, to identify and monitor demand-side policy actions conducive to the market uptake of bio-based products (standardisation, public procurement, labelling), mapping of activities and exchange of good practices at regional, national, international and EU-level.
