Coca Cola and Dow Chemical Among Companies to Bring Consumer Focus to 2012 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology

The world's largest industrial biotechnology Conference for bio-based products, biofuels, renewable chemicals, synthetic biology, food ingredients, and biomass opens doors in Orlando

Biofuel and biobased product company executives, scientists and government officials from across the globe will speak in breakout sessions at BIO’s 9th annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing. The world’s largest industrial biotechnology conference for business leaders, investors, academics and policymakers in biofuels, biobased products, renewable chemicals, synthetic biology, food ingredients and biomass comes to Orlando, April 29 — May 2 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center.

“As widely used consumer products continue to join the biobased economy, speakers at the World Congress will highlight this growing biobased economy, in which homegrown biomass resources are transformed into consumer products,” said Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section. “In addition to creating consumer products industrial biotechnology benefits consumers by revitalizing manufacturing and creating new opportunities for agriculture, generating jobs, making greener products and cleaner processes.”

Representatives from the Dow Chemical Company, Coca Cola, the National Defense Center for Energy and Environment and more will discuss the innovative use of industrial biotech in consumer products.
