5 facts about AIMPLAS, Valencia, Spain

20 years of experience working with biopolymers. More than 64 projects carried out with 330 companies for sectors such as packaging, agriculture, transport, construction, medicine and electric-electronic, resulting in three patents. Our activity includes the formulation of biopolymers to fit the requirements of the final application, the optimization of their transformation processes and research and development projects for the production of bioplastics from agrifood residues.

We have achieved milestones such as the development of high oxygen-barrier – fully biodegradable multilayer film structures based on PVOH (biodegradable and water soluble polymer), the development of BIOTUBO (fully biodegradable packaging for cosmetics) and the co-ordination of BREAD4PLA project, rewarded as one the best LIFE+ projects in 2015.

Our laboratories are accredited according to the standard UNE-EN ISO / IEC 17025, and we have a collaboration agreement with DIN CERTCO for the certification of compostable products.

We have more than 20 pilot plants, where we can reproduce the main industrial transformation processes for plastics to support companies in the development of their materials and products.

We carry out dissemination and training activities, among which we can stress the International Seminar on Biopolymers and Sustainable Composites, of which we are holding the 6th edition on 1-2 March 2017.
