5th International Congress on Bio-based Plastics and Composites

Dear material experts,

The year 2011 has experienced acceleration regarding the raw material shift in the chemical and plastics industry. Clear political requirements towards a bio-based economy have become a world-wide phenomenon which includes bio-based plastics and composites along with bio-based additives and green chemistry.

In order to keep track of this dynamic development we would like to bring your attention to our 5th International Congress on Bio-based Plastics and Composites (www.biowerkstoff-kongress.de) that will take place on the 14th and 15th of March 2012 in Cologne at the Maternushaus (10 minute walk from the Central Station). In over 20 lectures and an exhibition we will introduce the latest developments of main players from Italy and Scandinavia as well as Germany. The theme covers the whole area of bio-materials, additives and industrial biotechnology. Additionally agents from assemblies along with political representatives will present the new proposed political frameworks. The 5th International Congress on Bio-based Plastics and Composites builds on successful previous congresses: in 2011 were 150 participants and nearly 20 exhibitors represented. We will expand this success in 2012!

Innovation Award “Bio-based Material of the Year 2012” – Apply now!
It is for the fifth time that the nova-Institut will award an innovation prize at the Congress on Bio-based Plastics and Composites. The competition seeks to encourage the development of new materials along with suitable applications and markets for bio-based products. The competition is open to new materials within a specific product application that was introduced on the market in 2011/2012. To apply your innovation for the innovation award please send us two DIN-A4-pages describing your product and its material along with a printable and digital graphic material. The description is intended to exhibit the innovative nature of the product, and should contain information about the biogenic fraction along with the proposed date of commercialization.

Call for papers
If you would like to present new developments, processing methods or products at the Biowerkstoff-Kongress 2012 – International Congress on Bio-based Plastics and Composites, please send us an E-Mail with the title and abstract. Our committee of biomaterial experts, partners and sponsors as well as staff from the nova Institut will select the presentations.
