The Osirys project will be displaying a multi-layered façade in the Building and Construction Planet at JEC World 2017, taking place on March 14th-16th, Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.

The sample represents complete systems that are currently being installed in buildings on both Estonia and Spain.

Indoor air quality and emissions from building materials has been, over recent decades, a major challenge for scientists, industry and consumers as traditional construction materials contribute to contaminants.

The Osirys project has been developing technology to improve indoor environmental quality and energy efficiency by evolving bio-based composites and products for façades and interior partitions. These new technologies can then be applied in retrofitting and new building construction.

Over the past few years, the construction industry has begun to use multi-layered façades as a replacement for traditional brick and mortar. Once assembled, these layered façades meet the same insulation and protection requirements of traditional façades.

The Osirys solution presented at JEC World, also meets these requirements, and has three components. The exterior panel is manufactured from jute and bio-based epoxy. The multi-layer module is the core of the system and contains bio-foams, fire retardant thermoplastic sheets and pultruded profiles, giving the required thermal, acoustic, fire and mechanical properties. The interior finish is bio-based and has an active coating bringing significant indoor environment improvements.
