nova Session on biomass feedstocks – Second edition: “Food or non-food crops for industry“
8 September 2016, Conference Center Airport Cologne/Bonn
Following the great success of the first nova Session on biomass feedstocks, we will talk use of sugar and other crops for bio-based industries in Europe – after 2017 and beyond. The interactive workshop will discuss the issue of industrial use of biomass at all levels: political frameworks and the food vs. non-food debate, environmental impacts, public perception and communication and the current and future biomass supply and demand. The number of participants is limited.

SuperBIO Workshop
27 September 2016, 14:00 – 16:00 h, nova-Institute, Hürth (near Cologne)
SuperBIO is an innovation project supported through the EU Horizon2020 funding programme. The € 3.8 million project supports the development of promising industrial value chains in the bioeconomy. The project provides 10 different types of innovation services to third party SMEs which are funded by the project for 75%. The workshop, organized by nova-Institute, aims to spark new ideas on value chains to be submitted to the SuperBIO project. 5th Conference on CO2 as Feedstock for Fuels, Chemistry and Polymers

For the fifth time, nova-Institute is organizing one of the leading events on Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) in the world! After four times in Essen, the conference moves to Cologne to have enough space for growth: nova-Institute expects more than 200 participants from 30 countries and 20 exhibitors and offers professional match making tools for efficient networking between the experts from industry, policy and research.

Composites go green: Biocomposites and fibres at the COMPOSITES EUROPE 2016: Secure your place now!

For the third time, exhibitors together with nova-Institute will use the shared stand “bio-based composites” to showcase how great sustainable solutions can be with regard to lightweight construction, materials and modern production and automation solution. Because of the great success of the first two events, the joint stand is now significantly bigger. More than 20 companies will present their bio-based composites on 150 m2.

Within Open-Bio, nova is developing a product database that aims to facilitate the public procurement of bio-based products on a European level. In a common effort with scientific and industry partners, a concept of such a product database has been developed, which needs to be tested and demonstrated now by showcasing exemplary bio-based products that can be relevant for public procurement.

Informative factsheets about the most pressing issues
In an attempt to provide more information about the most relevant issues concerning bio-based products and services, a series of factsheets is being published during the course of the InnProBio project. The first two have been on understanding what exactly bio-based products are, and on sustainability issues related to bio-based products. The latest factsheet covers myths and facts about biodegradability.

Workshop “Strategien zur Förderung der Kaskadennutzung von Biomasse”
14. September 2016, Tagungswerk Jerusalemkirche, Berlin
Auf der Abschlussveranstaltung des Projektes “Mehr Ressourceneffizienz durch die stoffliche Biomassenutzung in Kaskaden – von der Theorie zur Praxis” werden die Ergebnisse der Arbeiten einem breiten Publikum aus interessierten Kreisen vorgestellt. Insbesondere werden dabei Eckpunkte einer Strategie zur Implementierung der Kaskadennutzung von Biomasse vorgeschlagen und diskutiert. Eine Podiumsdiskussion mit Vertretern von Politik und Wirtschaft rundet die Veranstaltung ab.
