Der Ausbau der erneuerbaren Energieträger wird zur Umsetzung der Kyoto-Klimaschutzziele weltweit erforderlich. Im Europäischen Weißbuch “Energie für die Zukunft:” wurde daher eine Verdoppelung des Anteils erneuerbarer Energien von 6% auf 12% bis 2010 als Ziel gesetzt, wobei die Energie aus Biomasse ein beträchtliches Potential zur Erfüllung dieser Zielvorgaben erbringen soll.
Energiepflanzenanbau heißt die zunehmende Nutzung von Kulturflächen zur Erzeugung von Biomasse als Energierohstoff.
Heute bereits ist der Energiepflanzenanbau eine Produktionsalternative für die Landwirtschaft. Neben der etablierten Non food- Rapsproduktion für die Biodieselerzeugung entwickelt sich nach der EEG-Novellierung in Deutschland die Biomasseproduktion zur Biogaserzeugung im Praxisanbau dynamisch. Auch werden erste Konzepte für die Produktion synthetischer BTL- und SunFuel-Kraftstoffe diskutiert.
Die Produktion von Biomasse zur Erzeugung von Strom, Wärme oder Treibstoffen gewinnt nicht nur für die niedersächsische Landwirtschaft. Um die Energierzeugung als landwirtschaftlichen Betriebszweig auszubauen und zu optimieren besteht Handlungsbedarf für neue Anbaukonzepte und spezielle Energiepflanzenfruchtfolgen. Hierbei sind die Kulturarten- und Sortenwahl, die Züchtung, die Rohstoffqualitäten, die Produktionstechnik sowie angepasste Lagerungs- und Logistikkonzepte die Grundlage für die Wirtschaftlichkeit. In den Mitgliedsstaaten der EU gibt es unterschiedliche Kernkompetenzen und Erfahrungen im Energiepflanzensektor. Ein internationaler Austausch findet jedoch insbesondere auf der Praxisebene bisher nur begrenzt statt.
Der Internationale Energiepflanzenkongress soll dazu beitragen, das Wissen auf diesem Fachgebiet zusammenfassen und Erfahrungen zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis auszutauschen. Dargestellt wird der Stand der Energiepflanzennutzung und der dazugehörigen Forschungs- und Untersuchungsvorhaben der teilnehmenden Länder.
Die Veranstaltung dient somit als Informations- und Kommunikationsplattform für Wissenschaftler, Pflanzenzüchter, pflanzenbauliche Berater, Anlagenbauer und -planer, Energieversorgungsunternehmen, Landwirte und Anlagenbetreiber.
Der Energiepflanzenkongress wird im Rahmen des Interreg-IIIb-Projektes “NorthSeaBioEnergy” vom RIS-Kompetenzzentrum Nachwachsende Rohstoffe (NaRo.Net), dem Land Niedersachsen sowie den Partnerorganisationen des Projektes – Province of Fryslan – Landwirtschaftskammer Weser-Ems – Government Service for Land and Water Use DLG, Groningen, GOM-West Vlaanderen und Forestry Commission Scotland durchgeführt.
The development of the renewable-energy-resources to meet the Kyoto-climate-protection-targets has become a worldwide requirement. Therefore the European White Paper ”Energy for the future” aims to double the portion of renewable energy from 6% to 12% by 2010. Whereby the energy from Biomass offers a considerable potential for the fulfilment of these targets.
Energy farming means increasing use of culture surfaces for the production of biomass as energy raw material.
Already Energy farming has become an alternative for agriculture production today. Next to the established Non-Food rapeproduction for bio-diesel and after the amendment of the energy-feeding-in-act in Germany the existing biomass production for biogasification is developing dynamically. Furthermore first concepts for the production of synthetic BTL- and SunFuels are being discussed.
Not only is the production from biomass for energy, heat or fuels becoming increasingly important to agriculture in Lower Saxony, it is also widely discussed and adopted in all other parts of the European Community.
In order to optimise and develop the energy production as agricultural branch of industry there is a need for new cultivation concepts and special energy plant crop rotations. Hereby are the type of culture and sort choice, breeding, the raw material qualities, the production- technique as well as adapted storage and logistics concepts of special importance for the economy.
The European Community has diverse core authorities and experiences in the energy plant sector. However the presently existing international exchange on the topic is only limited.
The international congress for energy-farming should contribute to, summarize the knowledge on this field of activity and to exchange experiences in theory and practice. The congress shall presented the actual level of energy-plant-use and highlight the current research and investigation projects of the participating countries.
The meeting serves therefore as information and communication platform for scientists, plant breeders, plant-structural-advisors, plant-farmers and planners, companies for power supply farmers, plant operators and policy makers. Furthermore it is to point deficits and the action need out in research, development and application
