The first window foam with renewable agricultural content was introduced by ITW Futura Coatings, a division of Illinois Tool Works, Inc. Certified with BioPreferred status from the US Department of Agriculture, the new Foamseal E-Z Fill Plus Window Foam will be one of its kind, a bio-based product that will use renewable agricultural materials like corn, soy and castor plant material instead of petroleum derivatives; this will ensure that it releases less carbon into the atmosphere, which will be beneficial for the environment. The foam will be produced in Oxford, MI.
ITW Sales Manager, Art Goldman, seemed to be very proud with this invention. Goldman commented in a press release, “We’re pleased that our new product exceeds USDA BioPreferred requirements for renewable content. Using plant material reduces greenhouse gases that are damaging to the environment, while the foam improves the energy efficiency of the windows.”
Foamseal E-Z Fill Plus Window Foams retain the internal temperature of “U” value once injected into vinyl window frames. This reduces the energy consumption for heating, as well as cooling. The product also improves the thermal efficiency of windows by three to eight percent more than window frames without foam and comes with excellent flame-retardant properties.
