Ginkgo Solar Tree, a solar powered phone and tablet charger made from biobased plastics

Unique Ginkgo tree solar charger is made by XD Design from eco-friendly plastic and bamboo

GinkoThe Ginkgo Solar Tree, a solar powered phone and tablet charger uses biobased plastics and features a reduced carbon footprint. The shape of the charger was inspired by the leafs of the Gingko tree to absorb the sun’s power, holding 3 big high efficiency solar panels that can open to full size to maximise the solar panels’ surface area.

The charger’s leafs are made from reSound™ – a combination of 45 percent PLA and 55 percent PC. The tree trunk is made from natural bamboo. Additionally, the developers of the Gingko Solar Tree have reduced the carbon footprint of the product by optimizing it’s packaging: the solar panels can be folded in, making the packaging as compact as possible and avoiding shipping and packaging a large item.
