Evolva (SIX: EVE) announces that its animated explainer video received top marks in the Hermes Creative Award competition, achieving a Platinum score, the highest category possible. Evolva is dedicating this award to Phil Robinson, the late-great creative genius who directed this video, which was created to explain to the public what we do with biotechnology and brewing—and why we do it.
The Hermes Creative Awards, “honouring the messengers of traditional and emerging media”, was judged by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals in the US. This year there were some 6,200 entries from the US and 16 other countries. Evolva’s Responsibility web pages scored Gold.
Evolva’s animated explainer video, which is hosted by our animated alter ego, Eve (making her public debut in the video), was produced by Phil and his talented team at what was then San Francisco-based Special Agent, an award-winning agency he helped create.
Storytelling and wry humor were in his DNA. Phil directed every medium within the animated art form and was widely recognised for blending traditional methods with live-action and 3D wizardry. He worked on animated films at Industrial Light + Magic, and also directed the feature film FernGully 2 and the acclaimed CG short Hubert’s Brain. His interactive treatment of Dr. Seuss’s iconic Green Eggs and Ham earned him ASIFA’s prestigious Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement. He was much admired and is sorely missed.
