The European Commission intends to extend the current regulation on EU aid for flax and hemp fibre by one year. For 2008, in the framework of the single payment scheme review, the Commisision has proposed an in-depth assessment of the sector.
A communitation to the European Parliament and the European Council was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 24 August. If the two EU institutions agree to the proposal, the current regulation will be extended until the end of the financial year 2008/2009.
