Midlands Wood Fuel Ltd is one of seven companies and organisations to share £2.5m from the Big Lottery Fund’s Bio Energy Capital Grant Scheme.
The company said the award of £360,000 would allow it to pass on significant capital grants towards new wood boiler installations over the next three to four years. Public authorities, organisations and business would all be eligible for the grants, with only individual domestic households being excluded.
Other organisations to benefit from the scheme include the National Trust which will use biomass heating to help reduce its environmental footprint. In Scotland and Northern England, Highland Wood Energy will be replacing coal powered heating with biomass in public buildings and 3G Energi will be installing biomass heating systems in community projects.
