Bio-based Building blocks and Polymers of the World: complete update of nova-Institute’s market study

Production capacity will triple from 5.2 million tonnes in 2013 to nearly 16.9 million tonnes in 2020

Bio-based drop-in PET and PE polymers and the new polymers PLA and PHA show the fastest rates of market growth. The lion’s share of capital investment is expected to take place in Asia and South America. http://www.bio-based.eu/markets/#market_study_bio-based_building_blocks_and_polymers

In March 2013, Germany’s nova-Institute published the most comprehensive market study of bio-based polymers ever made. The nova-Institute carried out this study in collaboration with renowned international experts from the field of bio-based polymers. The market study received high acclaim and set a new standard for market studies in this field.

Two years after the first market study came out, nova-Institute is set to publish a complete update in February 2015. The development and the annual growth rate of production capacity for bio-based polymers (between 10-20% CAGR) is impressive in comparison to petrochemical plastics (between 3-4% CAGR.

The study looks at every kind of bio-based polymer produced by more than 200 companies at over 350 locations around the world and examines in detail 115 companies at 133 locations.

The study contains on the one hand updates for all bio-based polymers (production capacities, locations, applications) and on the other seven trend reports by international experts on market development.

In 2014, for the first time, the main data source of the recently published market data of the association “European Bioplastics” is nova-Institute’s market study. For the European Bioplastics’s selection of bio-based polymers, which differs from the nova-Institute’s selection, bioplastics production capacities are meant to grow by more than 400% by 2018.Market data graphics are available for download in English and German: http://en.european-bioplastics.org/press/press-pictures/labelling-logos-charts/

You can order the market study as a protected PDF file in June 2015 for 3,000 € (excl. VAT).

End-of-year discount! Pre-order the study before the end of 2014 and receive a 15% discount. Save 450 € and get the full market study for only 2,550 €: www.bio-based.eu/markets/#market_study_bio-based_building_blocks_and_polymers
