Bio-based commercialization the focus as global experts assemble for San Francisco

Event will also feature the Bio-Based World News Awards

Bio-Based World News, the digital portal and magazine focussed on the latest news and business developments for bio-based chemicals and products is proud to announce its first live event in the United States: Bio-Based Live.

According to a USDA report from 2015 bio-based products contribute $369 billion to the U.S. economy each year and support, directly and indirectly, 4 million jobs.

But we understand that in an emerging industry the journey from that breakthrough in the laboratory to succesful commercialization can be a difficult one. It’s not called the Valley of Death for nothing! It can be a convoluted and at times confusing ecosystem and a high level of collaboration is required for us to reach a future for the bio-based industry that we all believe possible.

As part of a commitment to uniting our community together, we are bringing Bio-Based Live to San Francisco Holiday Inn Golden Gateway, San Francisco on the 26th – 27th of September. Building on the success of the first Bio-Based Live in Amsterdam in May, it’s an event that is firmly focussed on the commercialization of the bio-based sector.
With specific streams of content dedicated to the technology and process as well as the market value and market sectors, we want to provide a business place for the ecosystem to meet.

Alex Williamson, Managing Director and co-founder of Bio-Based World News: “After a fantastic first live event in Amsterdam we are delighted to bring the event to San Francisco. It’s a city that has always been a leader in bio-based developments, not just nationally but internationally as well. It will be the perfect host for our expert global delegation.”
The conference features several streams focused around two key areas:  Process & Technology: The Journey to Commercialisation and Market Sector Needs and Sustainable Brands.

Confirmed experts speakers focussed on these areas include:

  • Rob van Leen, Chief Innovation Officer, DSM
  • Denis Lucquin, Managing Partner & Chairman, Sofinnova Partners
  • Marianna Ralli, Scientific Affairs Manager, Korres Natural Products
  • Christophe Schilling, CEO, Genomatica, Inc.
  • Larry Feinberg, CEO & Co-Founder, KnipBio
  • Joseph Zwillinger, Co-Founder, Allbirds
  • And many more…

The two day event will also feature the Bio-Based World News Awards (USA) honouring the key innovations making breakthroughs and transforming our industry. The 2 categories are: Bio-Based Product of the year and Bio-Based Innovation of the year
