Acme-Hardesty and Green Biologics, Inc. Announce Distribution Agreement

Renewable, bio-based chemicals widening Acme-Hardesty’s product line based on renewable palm and castor feedstock

Acme-Hardesty and Green Biologics, Inc. have signed a two year distribution agreement to market and sell renewable n-butanol and acetone to the US market. These renewable, bio-based materials are an extension of Acme-Hardesty’s product line of products based on renewable palm and castor feedstock. Customers are increasingly looking for alternative formulation ingredients that move away from fossil fuel based sources. Green Biologics n-butanol and acetone represent a unique contribution to advancing this strategy.

GB nC4-OLTM is 100 % renewable n-butanol produced through fermentation of agriculturally derived sugars by Green Biologics’ proprietary Clostridium microbial biocatalysts. As Green Biologics’ n-butanol is selectively produced by bacteria, and not by processing petroleum distillates, we are capable of providing higher quality material that contains none of the common contaminants of traditional routes (i.e. isobutanol and aldehydes) as well as low water content. Molecularly identical to petro-butanol, GB nC4-OLTM is a four-carbon alcohol that is a clear, colorless, flammable and neutral liquid with a characteristic banana-like odor.

Similarly, GB C3-ONE™, renewable acetone, is produced from fermentation of agriculturally derived sugars utilizing Green Biologics’ proprietary Clostridium microbial biocatalysts. As our acetone is selectively produced by bacteria, and not by processing petroleum distillates, we are capable of providing higher quality material whose production is not coupled to phenol synthesis and global demand for this unrelated compound. It is important to note that GB C3- ONE™ is the same molecule as acetone produced from petrochemical feedstocks, allowing for direct ‘drop-in’ to existing applications and formulations. As a value-add, no benzene or phenol is used or encountered in our process making GB C3-ONE™ intrinsically free of these carcinogenic impurities.

Renewable N-butanol is now available for purchase via the Acme-Hardesty Online Store in 1-gallon, 5-gallon or drum quantities, or contact your Acme-Hardesty Regional Sales Manager for more information.
